Everyone at school knows that my favorite days in class are pajama days and dress-up-as-a-character ones. Dr. Seuss Day (March 2) definitely falls in that category, as my school is lucky enough to have Dr. Seuss Character Day. This year I was a zebra, from On Beyond Zebra (a book which totally blew the minds of my 2nd graders, btw). Here is a look back on my previous years' costumes.

Halloween Costume- Belle
I've been so behind it's already December and I haven't shown off my Halloween costume yet! Oh my! Well, I decided to go with Belle from Beauty and the Beast this year (my school/work calls it "Book Character Day") and I was feeling brave so I bought the fabric and made my own costume. I'm not sure what I was thinking, as I was on crutches wearing a huge dress, but it worked and I didn't fall. Yay!
Here is the skirt part...
And here is the final outcome! I can't believe this is the only picture I got. My classroom was cold so I wore a sweater. Anyway, it was cute! I'm holding up my "Classic Fairy Tales" book, although the beautiful yellow-dressed Belle was technically the movie version, not from a book. Oh well!

Handmade Princess Costume
Happy Halloween! Or, as we called it at school, Book Character Day! Here I am posing silly for my sister (seriously, she had taken like 5 pictures at this point) with my fairytale costume at the end of the day. She made the main dress, and I made the undershirt and added all of the embellishments. It was SO cute. I did wear a pair of 5" heels off and on throughout the day (I switched into my comfy shoes in the classroom and after the kids left) so I wouldn't trip going down the hall.
